Joan Burstein, the British retailing legend who transformed the fashion landscape with her iconic boutique Browns, has passed away at the age of 100.

Her legacy lives on in emerging designers

Burnstein's remarkable career spanned five decades, from the 1970s when she founded Browns with her late husband Sidney, to her 100th birthday celebration in February this year.

During her reign, Browns became a launching pad for some of the world's most renowned designers, from John Galliano and Paul Smith to Giorgio Armani. Her keen eye for talent and entrepreneurial spirit helped propel British fashion to international heights.
